Great garden gifts for Christmas 2017

Garden Gifts

Keen gardeners are notoriously difficult to buy for at Christmas because in terms of tools, they’ve usually got everything they need and more. This means you need to work out those things that they’ve not yet worked out they need. Here we’ve come up with a selection of great ideas for any green fingered member of your family.

Gardener’s World subscription

A subscription is a great gift that can be enjoyed throughout the year and is perfect, whatever your budget. There’s currently a great offer available direct through the BBC Gardener’s World site, offering a six month subscription for £21.40 (25% off the shelf price). Plus, there are a couple of free gifts thrown in to enjoy too. The first issue will be delivered with a Burgon & Ball Hip Trug and Kneelo pads worth £27.98 in total.

With a subscription, your giftee will be able to enjoy some great offers on flowers and bulbs throughout the year. There are exclusive sections throughout the magazine just for subscribers, an exclusive front cover, great subscriber events and many offers on events like BBC Gardener’s World Live.

The BBC are also currently offering £5 for 5 issues on many of their subscriptions (Gardener’s World not included) so if you have any foodies or nature enthusiasts in the family, this could be something to bear in mind.

Picnic hamper

Gardening Christmas gifts

You’ll find that many gardening enthusiasts will spend a lot of time tinkering in their gardens and not so much time appreciating the great outdoors. For them, a picnic hamper could be perfect.

Give them the chance to spend a bit of time enjoying the outdoors, rather than working in it. This four-person wicker hamper from Waitrose is beautiful and absolutely perfect for a great day out.

It includes, four ceramic plates, four glass tumblers, knives, forks, spoons and cotton napkins. As it’s a fold out basket, and all of the essentials are well-attached to the lid, there’s plenty of room for a selection of great foods – crusty breads, chesses, wines, dessert – making it the perfect choice for a family day out.

Decorative bird feeder

A bird feeder is a feature in many back gardens but when someone puts so much time and effort into making their garden so beautiful, it’s a shame to spoil it with a standard plastic bird feeder.

The New Eden can be found on Not on the High Street and has a selection of beautiful garden decorations. However, it’s the bird feeders like this one, that particularly caught our eye.

2018 gardening calendar (with seeds!)

Christmas gifts for gardeners

A standard calendar might sound a bit boring to many people and we kind-of get why. But this is a calendar with a difference, and it’s one that any gardening fanatic will love. Each month comes with a colourful botanic scene. As well as that though, each month also comes with some top tips on how to keep your garden looking great and a beautifully illustrated packet of wildflower seeds to be planted.

This is a gift that will bring joy throughout the year as they wait in anticipation to plant the next month’s seeds and see how they grow. It’s definitely one to consider. Seedlings Cards & Gifts also have a beautiful website of their own, but it looks like you can only buy a few of their products on there (2018 calendar with seeds not being one of them), so we’d certainly recommend making your purchase on Not on the High Street.

Getting Personal currently has a great selection of personalised gardening related gifts for him and her.
